Helsinki’s oldest annual event is the Baltic Herring Fair organised since 1743. I have visited the fair as long as I can remember and every single year I buy at least garlic herring and sweet dark bread. As a child, we visited the event with school with some tasks to do – this year I went there for work. No matter what’s the reason for my visit, it has always been pleasant. This year the opening day was just perfect; the sun was shining, it was 15 degrees and all the terraces were packed of people enjoining the last warm autumn days.
Herrings are here!
