If you are one of those treasure hunters who love to shop in vintage stores instead of big department stores, you must pay a visit to Kallio. In the heart of Kallio, right next to Bear Park (Karhupuisto), there are several vintage shops. Hop off the tram at Bear Park and start the tour from Hoochie Mama Jane, then continue along Fleminginkatu and visit Olo-huone and Ansa, and before catching a tram again stop by Frida Marina at Kaarlenkatu, located right next to the Kaarlenkatu tram stop. Life made easy! And if you feel hungry or need a cup of coffee, enjoy one either at Olo-huone or Frida Marina, or stop by Galleria Keidas. Just be wiser than me and remember that on Mondays Frida Marina is closed.
Agricolankatu 11, open Mon-Fri 11-18, Sat 12-16
Hoochie Mama Jane is a tiny but elegant vintage shop with a charming and friendly owner. 2. Olo-huone – second hand & lifestyle
Fleminginkatu 7, open Mon-Fri 11-18, Sat 12-17
Olo-huone is a fresh and inspiring combination of second hand store, café and lifestyle shop. Vintage treasures can be found in the room at the back. 3. Ansa Second Hand
Fleminginkatu 8, open Mon-Fri 12-18, Sat 12-16
Ansa was opened already in 2008. The shop is small but there is always something new. Follow their Facebook-site to see the latest arrivals and to pick up the best of the best as first. +1 Frida Marina
Kaarlenkatu 10, open Tue-Fri 11-19, Sat 11-18
Frida Marina is still a secret to me, as it is rather new and as I unfortunately did my last treasure hunting tour on Monday when the shop is closed. Frida Marina is a combo of vintage shop, flea market and café and it looks really tempting. Now I have one more reason to return to Kallio! Ps. Could someone please through a big party so that I would have a good reason to look for a new vintage dress?
